Oncologists Adhere to Pathways at Least 70% of the Time

Oncologists with choice typically align patient treatment with group- or institution-developed pathways.

Fifty-three percent of oncologists at groups relying on multiple stakeholder pathways may choose between pathways, typically selecting pathways with development by their group or institutions.

While adherence goals may vary by stakeholder and/or cancer type, overall most oncologists adhere to pathways at least 70% of the time.

These and other findings can be found in Health Strategies Group’s recently released research Oncology Pathways: Group Practice Assessment.

Key questions answered in this research:

  • How do pathways impact practicing oncologists’ treatment decisions by cancer type?
  • Which stakeholders have the greatest influence on oncology pathways?
  • Where do oncology groups fall on the continuum of oncology pathways implementation and impact on oncologists’ treatment decisions?
  • What are opportunities to influence brand inclusion within oncology groups’ pathways?
