21st Century Cures Act Will Affect Multiple Stakeholders

The 21st Century Cures Act passed in the Senate in December 2016. The bill comprises multiple healthcare initiatives, including allowing the use of real-world evidence (RWE) data summaries, rather than full clinical trial data, to support the approval of certain drugs for new indications, and permitting biopharmaceutical companies to promote off-label drug uses to payers.

Payers believe implementation of the 21st Century Cures Act will have the greatest impact on regulatory agencies.
